Winter clothing
Prepare for the approach, not only the photograph.
The cave can feel sheltered, while the glacier approach may be cold, wet and windy. Dress in adjustable outdoor layers.

Wear a proper shell jacket and outdoor trousers. Avoid jeans and clothing that stays wet.

Gloves and a close-fitting hat should work comfortably with the operator's safety equipment.

Supportive hiking boots must work with crampons. Ask about boot rental if your own shoes are unsuitable.
Photography without slowing the group
Bring less equipment. Pay more attention.
The surface may be slippery, the group needs to move together and cave time can be limited by conditions or other departures. A phone or compact camera is often the most practical choice.

No natural cave can be guaranteed to keep the same shape or colour. Photography may show a previous formation, different light or a quieter moment.
Is an ice-cave tour difficult?
Many departures are designed for visitors without technical experience, but they can include uneven glacier travel, rough approaches and cold conditions. Check the specific fitness and age rules.
What happens if the cave is unsafe?
The operator may change the route, use another assessed formation, provide an alternative glacier experience or cancel under its terms. Safety should take priority over reaching one advertised shape.
